How to Make a How Well Do You Know Game

It is the game everyone knows: how well do the guests know the guest of honor? The trick is writing questions with clear answers, and keeping those answers where only you can see them. Here is how to build it.

Ask about the guest of honor

The whole game is one person: the bride, the mom-to-be, the retiree, the graduate. Ask the things a close friend would know and a coworker might guess. Keep the answers short and factual, like a year, a place, or a first job, so no one argues over whether a guess counts.

  • Firsts: first job, first car, first concert
  • Favorites: a food, a movie, a place they always go back to
  • Numbers and dates: a hometown, a wedding date, years at the company

Write the answer next to each question

You write the questions and the answers. Festafetti prints each question with a blank line under it for guests to fill in, and keeps every answer on a separate host key that guests never see. You type each one once; nothing is invented, and no answer sits in plain view.

Up to twenty questions fit on the sheet. Ten to fifteen keeps the game lively without dragging.

Score it and call a winner

When the sheets come back, read down your answer key and mark each one. The guest with the most right wins. Because the answers were factual, the scoring is clean and the room trusts the result.

The short version

Ask short, factual questions about the guest of honor, type the answer with each one, and let Festafetti print the quiz with a blank line under every question and a host key you keep. Ten to fifteen questions plays best.

Common questions
